From his earliest creative undertakings, music has always been a crucial component of Owen’s projects, and is intrinsically linked with everything he does.

ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS

After years drumming in a rock band in his teens (which loosely inspired the film and series Rockumentary) Owen began writing his own compositions, producing three albums and an EP over the course of several years, along with several supporting music videos.

In January 2016, Owen arranged his music into a set for an eight-piece band and performed a live show at The Lantern in Bristol Beacon, which was also filmed and produced as a live concert video.

While Owen has regrettably struggled to find the time for live gigging more recently, he is still writing original material, including borderline parodic rock/metal homages for the wider series of Rockumentary.

FILM SCORES

For all of his films, Owen has also composed the full scores, with development of the key motifs often starting during the script writing process so that concepts are explored in tandem or demo recordings used as mood references onset.

Music from these films has enjoyed festival success, including:

  • ‘The Lover I Left Behind’ from She Moved Through The Fair

    • Best Music Video Semi-Finalist, 2022 Birmingham Film & TV Festival

  • ‘I Don’t Want You’ from Rockumentary

    • Best Original Song, 2022 Birmingham Film & TV Festival

    • Best Music Video Quarter-Finalist, 2022 Birmingham Film & TV Festival

COMMERCIAL COMPOSITIONS

Owen has been commissioned on several occasions to write music for other commercial ventures, including social media campaigns and advertisements.

Previous clients have included Lombok, Accessorize UK and Issey Miyake.
