ROCKUMENTARY

Two naïve wannabe rock musicians faithfully document their attempt to break into the music industry by forming and managing an all-female rock band - predictably to everyone but them, the road to stardom is far from straightforward.
Rockumentary is a lo-fi, “fly-on-the-wall” format mockumentary comedy with semi-improvised structure incorporating a strong musical component. It’s loosely inspired by Owen’s own experiences playing drums in a fledgling rock band on the Bristol circuit as a teenager.
Filmed in Bristol and working with a talented young cast mainly from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Rockumentary managed to wrap production just before the first COVID-19 lockdown, and post-production (including an original soundtrack featuring several of the cast) was completed during the latter part of 2020.
The film has enjoyed success at several film festivals, including:
Best Mockumentary at the 2021 Poor Life Choices Comedy Film Festival;
Best Original Song at the 2022 Birmingham Film & Television Festival;
Best Feature Finalist and Best Actor Finalist (Gabriel Freilich) at the 2021 Lit Laughs Comedy Film Festival.
Owen is currently seeking a distributor for a wider release. He is also working on a longer series based on the characters and elements of the film’s story, collaborating with the actor and musician Katrina Kleve (who stars in the film) on both the script and the songs.
