RUTHLESS

Ruth Everly isn’t afraid of anything - but she should be. When a getaway holiday to the Brecon Beacons descends into a bloodbath, Ruth tries to uncover the truth before everyone is killed - which would be extremely inconvenient, to say the least.

Ruthless is a bleakly comic slasher/thriller, twisting genre tropes and exploring the ‘outsider’ in a horror film setting through the eyes of Ruth, a young woman who, due to an extremely rare (and real!) condition affecting her amygdala, is quite literally fearless.

It was filmed predominantly on location in the Brecon Beacons – where Owen’s maternal family hail from – with a talented upcoming cast from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and a local crew.

The film won Gold Award (Horror Feature) at the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival 2023, was also screened at:

  • the 2019 American Horrors Film Festival,

  • the 2022 Romford Horror Festival,

  • the 2024 13Horror.com Film & Screenplay Contest,

and is currently seeking a distributor for a wider release.
